The Barbet Column, a discontinuous still of French origin, was brought to the La Miel Distillery in 1959. This distillation system consists of two columns both made of copper: the Aldehyde Column, in which the unwanted elements are separated from the rest of the liquid, and the Rectifying Column, where the congeners are separated and only the desired elements are kept, such as esters and aldehydes. This rectification system is not found in other traditional column extraction systems. Unique in its design, it gives the distillate its characteristic organoleptic profile. The Diplomatico Distillery was founded in 1959 in the Lara Region, in the wide and fertile countryside near the city of Barquisimeto. Rum Habitation Velier Renegade 2020 3 Y.O.

Realizzato con canna da zucchero Lacalome Red e Yellow Lady, questo piccolo lotto Renegade è stato invecchiato in tre diversi tipi di botte (rovere francese: 17%, ex bourbon: 60% e rovere americano nuovo: 23%).  Con una quota di angeli pari all’8%, in due anni questa versione ha acquisito una complessità e una maturità espressiva strabilianti.  La sua tavolozza di sapori e aromi profondamente naturale ricrea ingenuamente il carattere giovane e mutevole del suo periodo migliore. Naso: ricco, inebriante. Il primo naso floreale (dente di leone), mielato, medicinale (unguento) e vanigliato si riempie gradualmente delle squisite fragranze della gomma arabica. Lasciato respirare, il succo fresco di canna inonda la tavolozza degli aromi con i suoi sentori di latte (cocco) ed esotici (ananas, kiwi). Gusto: vivace, snello. L'attacco del mentolo è speziato (curry, cardamomo, cannella), radicale (zenzero) e sciropposo (zucchero di canna piccante).  A metà palato, il baccello di vaniglia e i quadratini di cioccolato fondente formano un abbinamento perfetto. Una bella amarezza ricca. Giudizio complessivo: lungo, cremoso. L'inizio del finale diventa deliziosamente tannico e fibroso (canna). Il retrogusto salato rivela dimensioni di composta (mela), zafferano e autunnale (muschio). In chiusura, il cuore di carciofo ammorbidisce la tavolozza dei sapori.

RUM JAMAICA FORSYTHS WP 2005 -HABITATION VELIER

Released in late 2016, this version is from Jamaica. The rum has benefited from 100% tropical aging. In the glass Forsyths WP is a vibrant orange/brown color. It's a good honest color for a 10 year old rum. The nose is reassuringly familiar. Excellent notes of toffee, caramel and milk chocolate. There's also a nice dose of alcohol that gets into the nostrils a bit. here's some spearmint mixing with the spicy oak. Maybe a touch of smoke and definitely some leather. Overall it's a well-balanced and inviting nose with enough complexity to make you curious to try it. Sipped at full strength it is surprisingly quite spicy. On the palate there is a lot of dried oak and a lot of bourbon like spiciness. Especially on the first couple of sips. Now either your palate will adjust to the ABV of this rum or you may need to add a few drops of water to it. As there are more notes that come out as you proceed with the tasting. It's a fairly dry, almost sharp rum, but offers a lot of the promised sweetness on the nose. The chocolate and candy on the nose return particularly in the finish and middle of the sipping experience. The rum has a really long and satisfying finish. Nice warming notes and really good lasting power. Big spicy notes that intertwine with lightly charred oak and cocoa.

RUM NATION DEMERARA SOLERA N°14

On the nose, dark, musky, very rich in esters (fermented fruit and glue), with notes of cola, myrtle and bergamot tea. Viscous on the palate, rich in sugar cane molasses. Dark chocolate, coffee, sultanas and in the background a toasted and slightly bitter hint with notes of herbs (black tea and gentian). Dark and sweet at the same time. Finish: Eternal continuation of contrasting notes of bitter herbs and sugary sweetness. In the end the sweetness prevails: almost syrupy and slightly vinous, like a vermouth. Rum Nation Demerara Solera N° 14 comes from sugar cane molasses grown in British Guiana, and is a careful blend of rums of different ages, distilled both in pot stills (richer and fuller-bodied) and in column stills (for a lighter and easier to drink base). Mainly aged in American ex-Bourbon barrels, which impart creamy sweetness, it is then aged for 12 months in fresh sherry barrels (Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso) to enrich its spicy character. A small percentage of very old Enmore rum is finally added to the blend for a touch of further complexity.

RUM NATION GUATEMALA GRAN RESERVA 40%

On the nose it is floral, delicate, with the typical aroma of brown sugar, and a hint of buttery. Dates, sultanas, orange peel. On the palate accessible, velvety, warm. Sweet but not syrupy, with notes of vanilla, cola, raisins. Crème brûlée, and a final touch of herbs like a vermouth, with a hint of orange peel, anise and liquorice. Finish: Becomes more tannic and toasty, with the herb and black pepper notes becoming evident. The final crescendo of intensity and warmth is delicate. A high quality rum made from molasses, fermented and distilled in a continuous still at Destiladora del Alcoholes y Rones, SA Tululà. Once distilled, the rum is transported to the north east of Guatemala in white oak barrels that previously held bourbon, where it is subjected to maturation at 185 meters above sea level for at least 4 years in the Hondo River region. This choice of location, characterized by high humidity, allows for very fast and intense maturation, because Rio Hondo is one of the hottest areas of Guatemala, with an almost tropical climate. The result is one of the lightest rums in our collection, in full Latin style with its typical sweetness and fragrant notes of vanilla and raisins, but with a medium body and moderate sugariness.

RUM NATION JAMAICA SHERRY FINISH 5 YEARS 50%

Deep, balsamic on the nose, with notes of camphor and the typical pungent Jamaican aroma rich in esters. Brown sugar, and fermented and vinous notes. On the palate it is identical to the perfume, but also with notes of resin, pine needles, black pepper and a hint of flour. There is an underlying sweetness, but the overall impression is dry and spicy. Sultanas, ancient wood. Finish: Warm, peppery, lively. The pungent note typical of Jamaican rums persists on the tongue for a long time. This new edition of our award-winning pot still rum from St. Catherine in Jamaica was aged entirely in the Caribbean, and then aged for 15 to 18 months in second-fill Oloroso sherry casks, plus a small percentage of Pedro casks Ximenez. The careful blending of the barrels made it possible to harmonize the impetuous vitality and intense aromas of the young Jamaican rum with the vinous, fruity and succulent complexity of the sherry barrels. A robust and multifaceted rum, full of power but also nuances.

RUM NATION PANAMA 10 YEARS

On the nose it is delicate, fresh, light, sweet and fruity. On the palate it is light-bodied, but with a certain unctuousness. The sweetness of sugar cane prevails, but without being cloying. RUM NATION PERUANO 8 YEARS

Almost buttery on the nose, very sweet and with hints of fresh sugar cane juice. Toffee, milk chocolate. Rich and intense on the palate, never pungent. The kind of full-bodied intensity that envelops the tongue and caresses it. Sultanas, figs, dates, but the sweetness is accompanied by a hint of spices: cinnamon, pepper, and pleasant tannins from the oak barrels. In the finish it becomes more peppery and tannic, but always remains velvety, syrupy and extremely sweet. Cola and sweetened black tea. In the Lambayeque region, north of Peru, a rum is still produced in the classic Spanish style, exactly as when the distillery was founded in the first half of the twentieth century: mature sugar cane molasses, grown in soils and in a climate extremely fertile, old Scottish column stills, a solera-like aging system in various types of barrels, and a blending recipe that is lost over time.

Rum Panama Raw Cask 2007 - Blackadder

Noto per la sua finezza e i sapori stratificati di frutta tropicale, caffè, spezie e pasticceria, questa versione a piena gradazione alcolica della serie Blackadder Raw Cask porta quel profilo irresistibile a nuove vette. Il rum Panama è speziato con persino alcune note di balsamo di tigre al naso.  Chicchi di caffè tostati con cocco fresco, ciliegie e bacche in cioccolato al latte e rovere. Al palato, sono principalmente ciliegie e bacche seguite da spezie esotiche e delicati aromi di cioccolato.  Il finale è lungo e potente con aromi di frutta dolce/aspra e spezie. Il rum per questo imbottigliamento è stato distillato il 23 febbraio 2007 e imbottigliato direttamente dalla botte, non filtrato e a piena gradazione alcolica nel novembre 2020.   Come per i whisky scozzesi Blackadder, i loro rum sono tutti rigorosamente in edizione limitata.    Questa botte è stata imbottigliata a gradazione alcolica dopo 14 anni, producendo 245 bottiglie.   Blackadder International è stata fondata nel 1995 da Robin Tucek che, insieme alla figlia Hannah e al figlio Michael, gestisce l'azienda di famiglia Robin Tucek è anche coautore con John Lamond di The Malt Whisky File, uno dei libri più rispettati sul whisky di malto I whisky e rum Blackadder Raw Cask sono whisky completamente in botte e imbottigliati contenenti sedimenti di botte.

Rum Papalin 10 Y.O. Reunion

Una miscela di un rum grand arôme e tre rum tradizionali, questa versione ci invita ad esplorare una tavolozza di sapori e aromi che si muove attraverso sequenze profondamente empireumatiche e meravigliosamente fruttate, il tutto con sorprendente naturalezza. Profumo: elegante, complesso. Al primo naso, una magnifica sequenza di fragranze di arancia e cioccolato dà il tono ad una degustazione promettente. Lasciati respirare, manghi molto maturi, note minerali (scisto) e vapori di idrocarburi si aggiungono mirabilmente alla tavolozza degli aromi. Sapore: Nobile, tonificante. All'attacco, le arance sprigionano al naso i loro succhi freschi e sapidi. Ricco è anche il palato centrale più radicale (zenzero, genziana) (zucchero di canna piccante).  La fine del palato rivela un sofisticato aspetto di albicocca (pietra). Nel complesso: lungo, distinto. Il finale cipriato (cacao, tè rosso) rivisita tutti i frutti al naso e al palato. I sapori di toffee e doghe di quercia alimentano un palato medio molto coerente. Il finale del finale è naturalmente fibroso e vegetale (canna).
