BAROLO PIRA DOCG 2017 - ROAGNA
Light ruby red. Barolo Pira oscillates between fresh fruit and delicate spices. Grown on 25-60 year old vines, the flawless cherry fruit is illuminated by ethereal top notes, toasted almonds and juniper berries alternating with rosemary, black cherries and sloes. On the palate, the ripe tannins take over and lay the velvety base on which the fruit blows on parade, to flow straight and transparent on the drinker's palate with oriental-style spices. The notes of sandalwood, juniper and incense are underlined by fine notes of cherry, the precisely worked acid nerve is perfectly enclosed by the tightly woven tannin and gives it freshness and smoothness. Rigorous manual selection of physiologically ripe grapes, vineyard by vineyard. Fermented spontaneously in large oak barrels which allow good microoxidation but no toasting. BUTTAFUOCO SOLINGHINO DOC 2022 - PICCHIONI ANDREA
Tasting notes: it has a beautiful bright ruby color with violet reflections. On the nose it presents a bouquet ranging from dog rose to small berries, with hints of freshly cut hay. In the mouth it is full, soft, harmonious, with a good persistence finish. Pairings: wine for the whole meal, it finds its ideal marriage with tasty first courses and roast meats. Winemaking: ripe grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and pressed. The must ferments for about 8 days in contact with the skins, then it is drawn off and placed to rest in concrete tanks for about 6 months before bottling. The bottles rest horizontally for a few months before being put on the market. Andrea manages his company with organic procedures which are based on some essential assumptions such as the use of water coming from owned natural wells, the use of fertilizers of organic origin and the spreading of the pomace on the soil of the vineyards. For Andrea it is very important that part of the territory is covered by trees, to compensate for the carbon dioxide produced by mechanical means. It produces only historic grapes from its territory. Cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant are the notes that most mark the olfactory component of this wine. The history of the company originates in 2003 when the founder Franco Selmin decided to purchase land in the Euganean Hills, only one place caught his attention: Valle San Giorgio, loc. In 2016, his son Enrico took over the company after graduating in Oenology in Udine and specializing in organic viticulture, and began working as a freelance consultant in the management of organic vineyards, especially in Friuli.
